Some of the most accomplished and well-known musicians from all over the world came together for the annual Festival Gnaoua in Morocco, which was hosted in Essaouira. Fatoumata Diawara, Snarky Puppy, Tinariwen, Third World, Nabyla Maan, Susheela Raman, Shabaka Hutchings, Baloji, Jorge Pardo, and Betweenatna were a few of the festival's outstanding acts. Each of these performers brought their particular energy and style to the stage, resulting in an event that will live in the memory forever.
A Malian singer and guitarist named Fatoumata Diawara enthralled the crowd with her lovely voice and stirring lyrics. Texas-based fusion group Snarky Puppy dazzled the audience with their complex melodies and catchy rhythms. Meanwhile, the Grammy-winning Mali group Tinariwen performed at the festival with their own brand of desert blues music.
Other notable performances included the Jamaican reggae group Third World and the Moroccan singer and composer Nabyla Maan. Both British saxophonist Shabaka Hutchings and British-Indian singer Susheela Raman captivated the crowd with their jazz-influenced performances. Baloji, a rapper and poet of Belgian and Congolese descent, also dazzled the audience with his socially concerned songs. The remarkable lineup was completed by Moroccan fusion band Betweenatna and Spanish flutist and saxophonist Jorge Pardo.
