The first festival, which took place in 1997 at the foot of Mount Fuji, earned the name "Fuji Rock Festival." Since then, the festival has been hosted at Yuzawa, Niigata's Naeba Ski Resort.

In a typical year, between 100,000 and 150,000 people attend Fuji Rock, the largest music festival in the nation.

Make your way to Yuzawa. Using the Shinkansen train The Shinkansen from Tokyo can take you to Echigo-Yuzawa, which is the station nearest to the Fuji Rock event. You can take the shuttle bus directly to the festival grounds or to your lodging area from this station (see the official website for shuttle bus information).
Mount Fuji is about 100km or 62 miles west of Tokyo.
It is forbidden to take rocks from the area because Mt. Fuji and a large portion of the foothills are protected by the law.
Fujinomiya is the closest city to the majestic Mount Fuji.
