In its most recent iteration, the German festival Klangfarben featured a wide range of talented musicians. Las Migas, a Spanish quartet well-known for its flamenco-inspired music, and Vieux Farka Toure, a Malian guitarist who brought his own fusion of blues and traditional African music to the stage, were among the best performers.
Portuguese singer-songwriter Antonio Zambujo wowed the crowd with his deep voice and fado-inspired tunes, and Brazilian musician Lucas Santtana contributed a fusion of samba, rock, and electronic music to the festival. Other prominent performers included the German band 17 Hippies, recognized for their blending of several European music traditions, and Flor de Toloache, an all-female mariachi band from New York and winner of a Latin Grammy.
Rupa & the April Fishes performed on stage while Bassekou Kouyate from Mali displayed his proficiency on the ngoni, a traditional stringed instrument from West Africa. Mokoomba from Zimbabwe presented their spirited brand of Afro-fusion to the festival, while 5/8erl In Ehr'n, an Austrian band, also made an impression with their blending of reggae, funk, and jazz.
The Klangfarben Festival, which featured some of the top musicians in the world, was an all-around celebration of musical talent and variety.
